With This Win... Marc Warren - Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles

With this win Marc Warren secured his second European Tour International Schedule victory in his 69th European Tour event as a professional. It was also his second consecutive European Tour season with a victory following the 2006 Scandinavian Masters. He becomes the first Scottish winner of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. His victory beats the best previous finish by a Scottish player by Raymond Russell of second in 2002.

  • Becomes the seventh Scottish golfer to have won official European Tour events in Scotland. They are: Sandy Lyle (1978 Smurfit Kappa European Open, at the Westin Turnberry Resort), Brian Barnes (1981 Tournament Players’ Championship, at Dalmahoy), Ken Brown (1984 Glasgow Open, at Haggs Castle), Colin Montgomerie (1999 The Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond and the 2005 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns), Paul Lawrie (1999 Open Championship, at Carnoustie and 2001 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns), Stephen Gallacher (2004 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns) and Warren (2007 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles – The Gleneagles Hotel).

*Both of his wins have now come via a play-off – the 2006 Scandinavian Masters and the 2007 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

*Gains a place in the 2007 Mercedes-Benz Championship.

  • Gains a place in the 2008 HSBC Champions.

*Gains his largest European Tour prize of €343,692 (£233,330).

*Extends his European Tour exemption until the end of 2009.

*Moves over €1 million in European Tour Official Career Earnings in just his 69th event.

*Moves to €661,927 in The European Tour Order of Merit and into 34th  from 69th.

*The 123rd Scottish victory in European Tour history.

*Second Scottish victory of The 2007 European Tour International Schedule, following Colin Montgomerie (Smurfit Kappa European Open).

  • His third top ten finish of the 2007 season and eighth of his European Tour career.

*The 182nd European Tour win by a former European Challenge Tour player.

*His fourth  victory as a professional.
