With This Win…. Marcus Brier – Volvo China Open

With this win Marcus Brier secured his second European Tour International Schedule victory in his 202nd  European Tour event as a professional. It is his second consecutive European Tour season with a victory, following the 2006 BA-CA Golf Open, presented by Telekom Austria.

• His first European Tour victory came in his 182nd European Tour event. Has to wait only another 20 events for his second win

• First Austrian to win the Volvo China Open

• His five shot winning margin is the largest since the event became part of The European Tour, beating the three of Stephen Dodd in the 2005 event

• His 274  is the lowest winning total since the event became part of The European Tour International Schedule, beating the 275 of Paul Casey and Oliver Wilson in the 2006 event (Nov 2005)

• Is the 13th different winner of the Volvo China Open since the event began in 1995

• The fifth European to win the Volvo China Open since the event began in 1995; They are: Ed Fryatt (1998), Simon Dyson (2000), Stephen Dodd (2005), Paul Casey (2006 – Nov 2005) and Brier (2007)

• Gains a place in the 2008 HSBC Champions

• Extends his European Tour exemption until the end of 2009

• Gains his largest European Tour prize of €249,124 (£169,590)

• Moves over €2 million in European Tour Official Career Earnings

• Moves to €294,106 in The European Tour Order of Merit

• The 170th European Tour win by a former Challenge Tour player

• The 11th  European Tour win by a former European Challenge Tour player on The 2007 European Tour, following José Manuel Lara (UBS Hong Kong Open), Justin Rose (MasterCard Masters), Alvaro Quiros (Alfred Dunhill Championship),  Ariel Canete (Joburg Open),  Stenson (Dubai Desert Classic, WGC – Accenture Match Play),  Peter Hedblom (Maybank Malaysian Open),  Mikko Ilonen (Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesian Open), Anton Haig (Johnnie Walker Classic), Daniel Vancsik (Madeira Islands Open BPI) and Brier (Volvo China Open)
