With This Win… Mikko Ilonen – Scandinavian Masters

With this win Mikko Ilonen secured his second European Tour International Schedule victory in his 144th European Tour event as a professional. In doing so he became the fourth multiple winner of the season, following Tiger Woods (WGC – CA Championship, WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and US PGA Championship), Henrik Stenson (Dubai Desert Classic and WGC – Accenture Match Play) and Padraig Harrington (Irish Open and The 136th Open Championship).

*Second victory of the 2007 European Tour International Schedule, following the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open.

*First player since Johan Edfors (2006 TCL Classic, The Quinn Direct British Masters and The Barclays Scottish Open), to claim at least their first two European Tour victories in the same season.

*Gains his largest European Tour prize of €266,660 (£180,498).

*Moves to €744,970 to move into to 27th  in The European Tour Order of Merit.

*First Finnish player to win the Scandinavian Masters. Becomes the 13th different player to win the event.

*As a result of his victory, Finland becomes the seventh different nation to win the event since 1991.

*The second Finnish victory on The European Tour.

  • His fifth top ten finish of the 2007 season and 14th of his European Tour career.

*The 188th European Tour win by a former European Challenge Tour player.

*His second victory as a professional.
