With This Win.... Tiger Woods - WGC - Bridgestone Invitational

With this win Tiger Woods secured his 29th European Tour International Schedule victory in his 67th European Tour event as a professional and in doing so made a successful defence of his WGC – Bridgestone Invitational, after winning the event in 2005.It was his fifth WGC – Bridgestone Invitational win, following victories in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2005 and joins Tom Watson (1975, 77, 80, 82 and 83 Open Championship) as the only other player to win the same official event five times, since The European Tour began in 1972.

• Has won his on his last three consecutive appearances on The European Tour – the 135th Open Championship, US PGA Championship and WGC – Bridgestone Invitational. Woods was the last person to achieve the feat in 2002 at the Masters Tournament, Deutsche Bank – SAP Open TPC of Europe and US Open Championship

• Having won the US PGA Championship, is the first player to win back-to-back events on The European Tour since Ernie Els at the 2005 Dubai Desert Classic and Qatar Masters

• Has made a successful defence for the second time on the 2006 European Tour International Schedule, following The Open Championship

• His 11th individual victory in a WGC event. Five in the Bridgestone Invitational, four in the American Express Championship and two in the Accenture Match Play

• Has won 11 of the  21 individual WGC events in which he has played

• Has won 11 of the 22 individual WGC events contested since 1999

• Playing in his eighth WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and recorded his eighth top four finish. Five wins, tied second in 2004 and tied fourth in 2002 and 2003

• Recorded his 18th top ten finish from his 21 individual WGC events

• His 70th win as a professional worldwide

• His fourth victory on the 2006 European Tour International Schedule, following his win at the Dubai Desert Classic and The Open Championship and US PGA Championship makes him the most prolific winner on the 2006 European Tour International Schedule

• The sixth time he has won four times in a single season on The European Tour, following 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2005

• The 101st  American victory on The European Tour since 1972

• The 18th time a player on the 2006 European Tour has won after leading going into the final round

• His sixth  top ten finish in 2006 and 52nd of his European Tour career
