Wu Ashun extended his lead to two shots as the second day of the KLM Open got under way at The Dutch.

The Chinese fired a bogey-free 64 in round one to set the pace but had 14 players within two shots of his lead on a very tight leaderboard.

After a brief fog delay in Spijk, three birdies in his first nine holes moved the two-time European Tour winner to nine under, two shots clear of England's Ashley Chesters and three ahead of two more Englishmen in Jonathan Thomson and Chris Wood, Scot David Drysdale and Argentinian Ricardo Gonzalez.

Wu started the day with a one-shot advantage and with none of the very early starters making a big move, quickly extended it to three with birdies on the first and second.

A first bogey of the week on the fifth dropped him back but he picked the shot straight back up on the par five sixth to turn in 33.

A bogey-bogey finish on Thursday stopped Chesters sharing the lead overnight and he bounced back well with birdies on the second and sixth in his first six holes.

Drysdale is fighting to keep his card at 118th on the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex and he birdied the fourth, fifth seventh and eighth to turn in 31.

Thomson - who lost in a play-off recently at the Made in Denmark - birdied four of his first five holes, while Gonzalez made birdies on the first and fourth before going double-bogey, eagle in his first eight holes, with Wood among the afternoon starters.

There was then a group of 13 players four shots off the lead.
