Day three digest: BMW PGA Championship

Everything you need to know from day three at the BMW PGA Championship.

Wentworth

An intriguing battle, the biggest of birds and musical maestros were among the highlights on an epic Moving Day at the BMW PGA Championship.

Here is everything you need to know from day three at Wentworth Golf Club.

Big guns cannot be separated

Jon Rahm and Danny Willett entered the weekend at the fourth Rolex Series event of the season sharing a two shot lead and will go into the final day locked together at 15 under, three shots ahead of the pack. First Rahm burst clear, then Willett edged ahead and then it was Rahm again before a Willett birdie on the last brought them back together. Will it be a two horse race on Sunday? The chasing pack may have something to say about that but whatever happens, we are set for a thriller.

The biggest of birds

Wentworth has seen many incredible things in the many years it has been hosting the European Tour's flagship event but on Saturday it witnessed a first as Ross Fisher made an albatross on the 18th at the West Course. Faced with 218 yards for his second shot, the Englishman pulled out a four iron and despite admitting he pulled it slightly, the ball cleared the water and rolled into the cup, sending the huge crowds in the grandstand into raptures. Fisher now not only has a place in the record books, but a BMW i8 Roadster Rosso Corsa worth £132,930 to drive home.

Miracle man Willett

It's not often you have another contender for shot of the day when an albatross is in play but Danny Willett produced one on the 15th, a shot the man himself called "miraculous". How good was it? Judge for yourself.

Rory stars in Ryder Cup trio

It may not have been the tee time any of them wanted on day three but Padraig Harrington, Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy put on an early show for the fans after just making it into the weekend. The World Number Two was particularly impressive, carding a 65 that was the lowest round of the day and matched his lowest ever effort on the West Course. A nine shot deficit may be too much even for McIlroy to make up but stranger things..............

Rudimental light up the village

This is the BMW. The signs all around the course say it loud and proud and that means this event is something different. On Saturday night it was the turn of Rudimental to bring something special, producing an hour long set of hits in the spectator village that had the fans partying like it was the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. Players were also seen enjoying the show as dusk fell on another wonderful Wentworth day.
