Genworth Stats Pack - Round 2 Review

Round 2 of the Alstom Open de France produced 38 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 73.75. Fabrizio Zanotti leads on -6 with Thomas Björn, Richard Sterne and Søren Kjeldsen following close behind on -5. We analyse their performances plus we round up the half way Genworth Statistics leaders.

Fabrizio ZANOTTI -6

Fabrizio Zanotti converted four birdies against one bogey on his way to a second round 68, to lead by one at the half way stage. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 30 year old golfer from Paraguay is performing ok from tee to green, but his performance with the putter has been the best of all the players by some margin, ranking 1st for Putts per GIR, 1st for Putts per Round and 2nd for 1 Putts per Round. Fabrizio currently ranks 132nd on the Race to Dubai so a big week would help kick start his season.

Thomas BJÖRN -5

Thomas Björn converted five birdies against three bogeys on his way to a second round 69. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, although the 42 year old Great Dane ranks down in 74th for Driving Accuracy, he is still managing to hit 75% of the Greens in Regulation (so his tee shot misses must be avoiding trouble), plus he is scrambling for Par almost 78% of the time when the greens are missed. The 13 time European Tour winner is in superb form at the moment, finishing 4th / 2nd / 2nd / 18th from his last four starts. A win must surely be on the cards soon.

Richard Sterne also converted five birdies against three bogeys on his way to a second round 69. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, only Bernd Wiesberger has accumulated more birdies than the 31 year old South African, who is playing steadily with the longer clubs and excelling on and around the greens (ranking high for each short game category). The stunning Le Golf National course is a perfect set-up for the six time European Tour winner, who has already won once this year in Joburg.
