Played golf at San Diego State University, winning a number of collegiate titles, tying his school’s record of five.

Won the PGA TOUR Canada Order of Merit in 2015, breaking the record in single-season earnings after four consecutive top fives and six consecutive top tens, earning status on the then-Web.com Tour for the following year.

Finished third on the Web.com Tour’s money list in 2016, helped by his victory at the News Sentinel Open, which earned him promotion to the PGA TOUR the following year.

Maintained playing rights on the PGA TOUR until 2020-21 season, but regained his card after finishing second at the Albertsons Boise Open in August 2021, the first of that year’s Korn Ferry Tour Finals events.

Broke through with his first PGA TOUR victory at the 2022 Valero Texas Open, but contemplated retirement just a few years later after struggling at the start of 2024. However, he ended the regular season with consecutive top tens, and then finished T6 at the ZOZO Championship to comfortably keep his card.

Made a strong start to 2025 with a T3 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii and runner-up finish at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches. Forced extra holes against Rory McIlroy at the PLAYERS Championship, but made a triple bogey on the famous 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass. His runner-up finish saw him move to a new career high of 25th on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Battled the elements to win his first Major Championship title at the U.S. Open later that year, overturning a one-stroke deficit on the final day at Oakmont Country Club. Trailed then-leader Sam Burns by five strokes before rallying after a weather delay to take a one-stroke lead to the 72nd hole. Had two putts for the victory, but holed a 65-footer for an unlikely birdie to end the week as the only competitor to finish under par for the tournament at one under.

Moved up to eighth on the OWGR after his win and then automatically qualified for the United States’ Ryder Cup team following his third runner-up finish of the season at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Returned two points from three matches at Bethpage Black on his Ryder Cup debut.
