When aged 16, Wood was seriously injured in a car accident, resulting in his left leg being held together by 14 screws and a metal plate, while he has so far faced more than 30 surgeries. 

Secured his maiden G4D Tour title with a three-stroke victory on home soil at the ISPS HANDA Australian All Abilities Championship in December 2023, beating established figures Kipp Popert, Brendan Lawlor and Tommaso Perrino to the prize.
