Volunteer FAQs
What is accreditation?
We have an accreditation document form the accreditation team which we can upload or provide a link to?)
This is a plastic card (size of playing card) with your name and photograph on it, stating that you are volunteer marshal. It will be attached to a lanyard and you will be required to wear it around neck and ensure it is visible, whilst working as volunteer. You will be unable to gain entry to the site if you are not wearing this. We just ask that you please remove it if your shift has finished, and you decide to stay on site to watch the golf.
If you are yet to upload a profile image then please do so, without it there may be a delay to processing your accreditation.
Can I access my profile within Bloomerang Volunteer prior to the event?
Yes, you can access your profile using the following link https://volunteer.bloomerang.co/web-admin/app/#/login
What happens when I have completed my event application?
Your application will be processed by the administration team, you will be contacted should they wish to clarify any of the information provided.
Please make sure that your contact details are updated if they change prior to the event.
You will be notified if your application has been successful.
When will the Mobile application open?
This will open approximately one week before the event; you will be unable to access of your information using the mobile app until it is opened.
The emails and password is the same you would have used when registering for the event.
Where is Volunteer HQ?
Event specific
Where can I park for the event?
Event specific
How do I apply for parking if I have a blue badge?
Event specific, but usually through ticketing
Can I wear my own golf clothes?
We expect you to wear the uniform we have provided so you can be easily recognisable as a Volunteer Marshal. There is no requirement to wear golf shoes, just whatever footwear you find comfortable and will keep you dry. We just ask that any trousers or skirts be of a plain colour, ie black, beige or navy, but no jeans please. If the weather is particularly bad, you can also wear your own waterproof outer layers as your wellbeing is paramount to us.
What if I cannot come in before my first shift to collect my uniform and accreditation?
You will be able to collect both when you come in for your first shift. Your start time (report time) of your shift allows 45 minutes before you need to be on the course, so you will have plenty of time to get changed and check in.
What will I expect to see when I come into Volunteer HQ?
When coming into Volunteer HQ you will be greeted by a member of the Event Admin Team, who will check you in for your shift, and also provide you with your Accreditation and uniform if you have not previously collected it. They will then discuss the role you are about to undertake and advise you what you need to do next.
Is it possible to have a paper copy of the site map and tee times?
Due to DP World’s commitment to reduce their environmental impact there will be very few paper copies, but we will upload all these documents on the App, which you will be able to see on your smart phone. Anyone who does not have a smart phone please speak to a member of the team. There will also be a laminated A3 map in Volunteer HQ that you will be able to take a photo of.
Do I have to bring any food and drink with me?
Hot and cold drinks are available from Volunteer HQ throughout the whole day. Bottled water is also available for you to take on course, which we strongly recommend.
If your shift report time is before 8am you will be provided with a breakfast roll. Packed lunches are available for every volunteer and whilst we cannot cater for all dietary requirements there will be a mixture of vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free options. If you so wish, you will be able to take this on course with you. If you do have a special diet, then we suggest you consider bringing your own food with you.
What else should I bring with me?
We recommend you bring a small rucksack or waterproof bag with you, for your lunch, water etc., and anything you feel you might need during the day. PLEASE NOTE that it is advisable to keep this with you at all times when you are on the course. You also might want to consider suncream and hand sanitiser.
