€176,000 raised for Make-A-Wish® Ireland at the Amgen Irish Open

€176,000 has been raised for Make-A-Wish® Ireland at the 2026 Amgen Irish Open with €90,000 of that amount coming from the Birdies for Wishes initiative on the eighth hole.

Make-A-Wish Ireland was the Official Charity Partner for the fifth consecutive year at the tournament, with the aim of raising funds to grant wishes to children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

The Birdies for Wishes campaign was one of several fundraising initiatives on site, with a total of 141 birdies and six eagles on the eighth hole at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel, Doonbeg, Ireland.

Amgen and the DP World Tour donated €250 for every birdie or better made on the eighth hole which came to €73,500. Amgen increased that total to €90,000 to celebrate the success of Amgen golf ambassador, Shane Lowry’s second national open title.

Amgen golf ambassadors Pádraig Harrington, Lowry and Séamus Power also contributed a total of €18,500 to the fundraising effort. The trio pledged to donate €500 for every birdie and €1,000 for every eagle they carded during the week.

Lowry stormed to his second Amgen Irish Open title in historic fashion, sealing a record 11-shot victory in front of sellout crowds at Doonbeg after carding an incredible 28 birdies across the week.

There were a number of cash and contactless collection points across the site in Doonbeg for fans to make donations. Combined with the ever-popular Mega-Putt Challenge in the Championship Village and fundraising in Amgen’s fan village tent, over €35,000 was raised directly on site. €20,000 was also raised on Super Saturday as Amgen donated €2 for every person wearing green on day three at the tournament. The staff at Amgen in Ireland also raised over €12,500 through its Walk for Wishes challenge.

The funds raised at this year’s Amgen Irish Open will help grant more wishes to children between the ages of three and 17 living with life-threatening medical conditions.

Nicola Donnelly, Director, Corporate Affairs at Amgen, said: “It has been another unforgettable week at the Amgen Irish Open. We are honoured to stand alongside Make-A-Wish Ireland as it continues to bring joy, hope and life-changing experiences to children and families facing serious illness.

“Shane Lowry’s victory made an already memorable week even more meaningful. As an Amgen Ambassador, Shane has been a wonderful supporter of our efforts at the tournament to raise vital funds and help fulfil wishes, and it was a special moment for our people and partners to see him lift the trophy.

“We are grateful to Shane, Pádraig Harrington and Séamus Power, and to the players, fans and partners whose generosity will make a real difference to children and families across Ireland.”

Susan McQuaid O’Dwyer, CEO of Make-A-Wish Ireland, said: “We are so grateful to Amgen, the DP World Tour, and the players for their generosity and commitment in helping us bring hope, strength and joy to children living with critical illnesses.

“Beyond this, the Amgen Irish Open offers an invaluable platform to raise awareness and funds, with our wonderful volunteers on site over the five days and we will ensure that every donation given helps us reach more children who need the power of a wish.”

Paul Gillmon, Championship Director of the Amgen Irish Open, said: “The 2026 Amgen Irish Open was an overwhelming success, and we are delighted to see a significant amount of money raised for Make-A-Wish Ireland across the week.

“The contributions made by our Title Partner Amgen, their Ambassadors Pádraig, Séamus and Shane, Pro-Am participants and the thousands of spectators who donated in the Tournament Village will make a huge difference to the lives of children living with life-threatening conditions.
