BMW International Open: Fantasy DP World Tour ones to watch

As the DP World Tour draws its curtain on the European Swing at the BMW International Open, here is all that players of our official Fantasy game need to know.

After five counting events, including historic national opens, the fourth of the five Global Swings on the 2025 Race to Dubai comes to a climax at Golf Club München Eichenried.

At a regular host venue on the DP World Tour since it staged the inaugural edition in 1989, players will vie for the title and Ranking points, with the winner of the Swing after this week sealing a place in every event of Phase Two of the season - the Back 9, a US$200,000 bonus and a spot in next week's Genesis Scottish Open if not already exempt.

Ewen Ferguson defends his title and he is joined by a strong international cast of talent, including all five winners from the Swing so far.

There is a strong German contingent with recent first-time DP World Tour winner Nicolai von Dellingshausen joined by Matti Schmid, Yannik Paul and 2008 winner Martin Kaymer among others.

From insight into the week’s most-picked players among Fantasy managers, to our ones to watch, we run the rule ahead of Thursday’s deadline to pick your team.

Who are the most backed players?

2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed is our most-backed player, featuring in 65% of squads as he targets his fourth DP World Tour title and first since the WGC - Mexico Championship in 2020.

In-form Frenchman Martin Couvra is next on 49%, with German pair Schmid and Von Dellingshausen then at 44% and 38% respectively.

Spain's David Puig rounds out the top five, featuring in 27% of teams.

Who are our ones to watch?

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite - Patrick Reed

With a Major Championship triumph to his name, the 2018 Green Jacket winner comes in as the bookmakers' favourite. A year ago, the American finished in joint 13th place on his BMW International Open debut. This will be his seventh start of the 2025 Race to Dubai, having featured in all three Majors so far this year, with a solo third at Augusta National in April highlighting he can still mix it with the best as he then returned to the world's top 50. That was his third top ten of our campaign, after doing so in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah at the start of the year during the International Swing.

Form Horse - Martin Couvra

You can't say enough good things about the impression the Frenchman has made so far in his rookie season on the DP World Tour. Even before his breakhrough win as a professional at the Turkish Airlines Open, the 22-year-old had caught the eye with three top tens in his first five starts on his transition after graduating from the HotelPlanner Tour. While he missed the cut at the Soudal Open, he then registered his sixth top ten of the season in Austria and comes into the week atop the European Swing Rankings after his runner-up finish at the Italian Open.

Wild Card - Marcel Schneider

Could the German be the next to land a long-awaited first DP World Tour title? In Austria last month, he came very close to doing just that as he fell just short to Von Dellingshausen. But after a top ten last week in Italy, there is every reason for him to be full of optimism as he shares in some of the limelight on the homegrown stars. 31st on the season-long Race to Dubai Rankings, he is well placed to reach the DP World Tour Play-Offs so can play with a sense of freedom over the coming months. Two of his last three starts at the BMW International Open have resulted in top 20s so he is starting to get to grips with the layout ahead of what is his 11th appearance in the event.

Looking back - Italian Open

Even with three top tens to his name this season going into the week, Adrien Saddier was still being viewed as an outside contender before landing his maiden DP World Tour title. Just 1,036 players, or 3.27%, took home the 200 points he earned at Argentario Golf Club. Special mention to the 29 players who had him as their captain.

Our Favourite Jordan Smith finished in a tie for 28th, Form Horse Nicolai von Dellingshausen continued his fine European Swing with a tie for fifth, while Wild Card Renato Paratore missed the cut on home soil.
