The Opening Swing concludes this week with the year-ending AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Heritage La Réserve Golf Links, which last hosted the event in 2023.

John Parry is the defending champion having won his second DP World Tour title more than 14 years on from his first, with fellow fomer champions Dylan Frittelli and George Coetzee also looking to become the first player to win this event twice.

England's Dan Brown, who like Parry also earned dual membership with the PGA TOUR via last season's Race to Dubai, makes his first start of the new campaign.

Marcel Siem has made Mauritius his new home over the past two years, with the experienced German joined by Spain's rising star Angel Ayora and American Ryan Gerard - a winner last season - in an international field featuring a mix of DP World Tour and Sunshine Tour players.

From insight into the week’s most-picked players among Fantasy managers, to our ones to watch, we run the rule ahead of Thursday’s deadline to pick your team.

Who are the most picked players?

Defending champion John Parry - who earned dual membership on the PGA TOUR via the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World at the end of last season - is the most picked player this week, featuring in 63% of teams.

On the back of winning his first DP World Tour title, Jayden Schaper is second at 55%, with Eugenio Chacarra third at 47% after finishing third at Royal Johannesburg.

There is then a drop to Dan Brown as the Englishman makes his first start of the new season having earned dual membership for next year, at 39%, with rising star Angel Ayora rounding out the top five at 25%.

Who are our ones to watch?

Favourite - Jayden Schaper

Produced a career-best shot from a fairway bunker in a play-off to help him overcome defending champion Shaun Norris and win his first DP World Tour title last week. The breakthrough came after a period of sustained consistency, including a tie for second at Sun City a week earlier, after he ended last season's Race to Dubai with nine top tens. He is now in the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time, tops the Opening Swing Rankings and will be out to finish off a year to remember. Finished sixth in this event at Heritage La Réserve GC in late 2023.

Form Horse - Angel Ayora

The Spaniard was the only player with more top tens on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World than Schaper, securing ten across his rookie campaign. Of those, five came in his final six starts of the campaign. The 2024 HotelPlanner Tour graduate already has one so far this season, following a tie for eighth at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player earlier this month. With three players having already won their first DP World Tour title so far in the Opening Swing, it would be no surprise if he became the fourth.

Wild Card - Julien Sale

Although now playing under the French flag, he grew up on the nearby island of Reunion where he honed his love for the game. Played predominantly on the HotelPlanner Tour last season, securing three top ten finishes as he finished 40th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings after making it to the Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A. A winner earlier this year on the Asian Tour at the Smart Infinity Philippine Open, he is making his event debut this week.

Looking back - Alfred Dunhill Championship

After finishing in a tie for second at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player, Schaper was a popular pick among Fantasy players as the South African went on to win his first title in the paid ranks on home soil in Johanessburg.

Our Form Horse featured in 36% of teams - the second most of any player in the field. The 8,566 Fantasy players who selected him were rewarded with 186 points. Of those, 2,673 players picked him as their captain.

Our Favourite Christiaan Bezuidenhout finished in a tie for ninth to secure his second top ten in as many weeks on home soil, while fellow South African and Wild Card Darren Fichardt missed the cut.
