The Scottish Championship presented by AXA concludes the European Tour’s second ‘UK Swing’ of 2020, following the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Galgorm Castle Golf Club, in Northern Ireland, last week’s Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club and this week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The announcement of AXA Asia as Presenting Partner extends the global insurer’s association with golf, having previously supported events on the Challenge Tour in the 1990s and the Senior Tour – now the Legends Tour – in the 2000s. AXA XL is also currently an Official Marketing Partner of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) while the AXA Group is a Principal Partner and the Official Training Kit Partner of Liverpool Football Club.

Gordon Watson, AXA Asia’s CEO, said: “We are thrilled to be the Presenting Partner of the Scottish Championship. Golf is a game that calls for precision, concentration, and self-awareness. While it is easy to see mental strength in action on the fairways, we hope that this event will help us remind everyone that mind health is critical to each of us in our daily life.”

Max Hamilton, the European Tour’s Commercial Director, said: “We are delighted to announce AXA as the Presenting Partner of the Scottish Championship at Fairmont St Andrews.

“To have the support of a globally recognised brand such as AXA for this new tournament is a significant boost for the event, and we look forward to working together to build our partnership.

“Participation and interest in golf has been booming in recent months and that was reflected by the success of our first UK Swing. This announcement extends that momentum as we continue to showcase our events and commercial partners to a global TV and digital audience.”
