BMW International Open - Day two digest

Everything you need to know from day two at Golfclub München Eichenried.

Li held onto his lead, while some delightful golf from Fox either side of a two-hour weather delay left him well and truly in the hunt on day two of the 2022 BMW International Open.

Here is everything you need to know from day two at Golfclub München Eichenried.

Weather can't stop Fox's charge

Ryan Fox had carded an eagle and three birdies in his first ten holes when play was suspended at 15.46 local time due to threat of lightning. Upon the resumption at 17.40, the New Zealander added further birdies at the 11th, 14th and 18th to get to 14 under and sit one shot off the lead.

Rozner's remarkable run

Antoine Rozner began from the tenth tee on Friday and had a relatively quiet start to his round, mixing one birdie with one bogey in his first 13 holes. But that all changed in the space of three holes as he made back-to-back eagles at the fifth and sixth before birdieing the seventh to move into contention ahead of the weekend.

Leader Li's tale of two nines

I think it's fair to say Li Haotong's front nine on Friday was eventful. He carded just two pars on his way to the turn, making an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys in his other seven holes. But Li, who equalled the course record with a flawless 62 on day one, enjoyed a smoother back nine, firing one birdie and eight pars to get to 15 under par and lead the way at the halfway point.

Perfection from Pieters

Thomas Pieters' approach at the ninth was quite something, and the putt was perhaps even better. The big-hitting Belgian closed his front nine with this sensational eagle shortly before the weather-related suspension, and he then reeled off four straight birdies from the 11th on his way to a second-round 64. How good was this?

Magnificent Molinari makes the cut

Edoardo Molinari needed something special in his final few holes to make the cut and boy did he produce it. After holing his approach into the par-four 16th for an eagle to get to three under, the Italian rolled in his monster birdie putt from over 40 feet on the 17th green. Well done, Edoardo.
