Richie Ramsay enjoying being pain-free in Munich

Scotland's Richie Ramsay was pleased with his strong start to the 2022 BMW International Open but the thing he enjoyed most about the first two days in Germany was playing without pain.

Ramsay heads into the weekend on eight under par after posting back-to-back 68s at Golfclub München Eichenried on Thursday and Friday.

That came after Ramsay underwent a recent procedure, and he was delighted to be pain-free out on the course.

He said: "I’ve played really, really well. My biggest thing is I’m playing without any pain.

"I’ve had a lot of issues with my back and the guys at the physio unit, Tim Swan, who’s a doctor on Tour, has really helped me massively over the last month or two, especially the last two weeks.

"I was struggling last week and I needed a procedure in London on Monday, I got that done.

"It sounds funny but I’m happy to hit shots and not feel pain. It makes golf that much more enjoyable when you’re not thinking that you might hurt yourself or if something happens.

"That made going out and playing easier, I played lovely and I just enjoyed being back without the hassle of worrying about being injured.

"It was (a procedure on the wrist), I had two injections into my neck. But that’s just a precaution. If you’ve been out here long enough you’ve got bumps and bruises everywhere.

"I’m just really happy with that.

"It’s a course I haven’t done that well on previously, so that’s an added bonus. I was just patient out there. It’s scoreable, but if you’re out of position it can trip you up."
