During the Rolex Series event at Wentworth Club in September, the American, who won €1,332,870.21 in prize money, spoke openly of his affection for playing in England as a result of family vacations to the Cotswolds.

In the immediate aftermath of his victory, his wife, Melody, was pictured holding a mask of TV host Jeremy Clarkson, who fronts the Cotswolds-set British documentary series 'Clarkson's Farm'.

“We've grown fond of him [Clarkson], along with the English culture, we actually take holidays in December in the Cotswolds, and we really enjoy his show," Spaun said at his post-tournament press conference.

“I went to his pub, The Farmer's Dog, with the hopes to catch a glimpse of him but he wasn't around.”

A month on, Spaun has revealed his generous gesture, which will see funds provided to the Addington Fund, whose mission is to "support farmers and rural communities across England and Wales, maintaining a vibrant countryside through emergency relief, housing, and mentoring new agricultural talent".

In a post on Instagram, pictured alongside his family, Spaun wrote: "Watching over 5 seasons of Clarkson’s Farm has opened our family’s eyes to the intricacies of British farming and the daily challenges farmers face.

"Our family is thankful for the opportunity to learn about these farming practices firsthand, and after winning the BMW PGA Championship in England, we wanted to give back to the community that continues to host us every winter with such kindness.

"We’re proud to donate part of our winnings to the Addington Fund, which helps farming families in times of need through housing and emergency relief, while also helping new farmers get started in the industry.

"Just as the PGA Tour and DP World Tour share the mission to grow the game of golf, Addington Fund’s mission to protect and grow the farming community is a mission we’re proud to support."
