Chris Gotterup enjoyed the perfect warm-up for his Genesis Scottish Open defence by claiming a fourth PGA TOUR title in 12 months at the John Deere Classic.
The American claimed his first DP World Tour crown last year at The Renaissance Club so will head across the Atlantic this week in search of a second Rolex Series triumph.
And he will so as World Number Seven after a stunning final-round 62 and a late slip from fellow American Ben Kohles helped him claim a one-shot victory at TPC Deere Run.
He started the day five shots off the lead but made nine birdies in his closing bogey-free effort to set the target at 20 under.
Kohles had a share of the lead stood on the 18th tee but put his second shot into the water to record a double-bogey and slip into a tie for third, with Max Homa taking runner-up honours.
"I didn't play as good last year, so hopefully it's good prep, even though they're about as polar opposite as it gets," Gotterup said of now taking on Scottish coastal golf.
"I think just getting good tournament reps is helpful. I felt like the last two weeks I was kind of grinding through some stuff. Obviously this week came out and played great golf.
"Hopefully, you know, keep it going and get some sleep on the plane tonight."
