DID YOU KNOW -  AFRASIA BANK MAURITIUS OPEN

• In 2015 the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open made European Tour history by becoming the first event to be tri-sanctioned by the European, Asia and Sunshine Tours.

• The Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita is being used on The European Tour for the first time. The Ernie-Els-designed layout is the fourth of nine courses being used on The European Tour for the first time during the 2016 season.

• George Coetzee will be looking to make a successful defence of his title he won in 2015. Should be achieve this he would become the second South African this season to win the same European Tour event in back-to-back years, following Branden Grace (2015-2016 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters).

• The event is the sixth of seven on the African continent during the 2016. European Tour season.

• European Tour history was made in the event in 2015 when Javier Colomo achieved the first hole-in-one on a par four. His albatross came at the ninth hole in round two, at the Heritage Golf Club, requiring a birdie three to make the cut, after starting from the tenth tee.

• Nicolas Colsaerts and Hennie Otto are both attached to the Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita. The last player to win a European Tour event at the golf course the player was attached to when the event was played at the course in question was Coetzee at the 2015 Tshwane Open.
