DID YOU KNOW - MADE IN DENMARK
• The first edition of the Made in Denmark in 2014 was the first time The European Tour had played an event in Denmark since 2003, when Ian Poulter won the Nordic Open at Simon’s Golf Club.
• Marc Warren will be looking to defend a European Tour title for the first time. The last time a Scot achieved this feat on The European Tour was Stephen Gallacher (2013-2014 Omega Dubai Desert Classic).
• Other Scots to win the same European Tour event in back-to-back years are: Bernard Gallacher (1974-1975 Dunlop Masters), Sandy Lyle (1980-1981 Lawrence Batley International), Sam Torrance (1982-1983 Portuguese Open) and Colin Montgomerie (1994-1995 Volvo German Open, 1996-1997 Murphy’s Irish Open and 1998-2000 PGA Championship).
• Prior to the Made in Denmark’s first staging in 2014, the last time Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort was used for European competition was in 1998. It was the Navison Open Golf Championship on the European Challenge Tour.
• The Navison Open Golf Championship was played on the European Challenge Tour between 1994-98. Three players in the field won in those years. They are: Thomas Bjørn (1995), Mikael Lundberg (1997) and Søren Hansen (1998).
• There are eight of Denmark’s nine European Tour winners competing. They are: Thomas Bjørn, Anders Hansen, Søren Hansen, Jeppe Pape Huldahl, Søren Kjeldsen, Morten Ørum Madsen, Thorbjørn Olesen and Steen Tinning. Between them they have contributed for 29 of Denmark’s 31 European Tour victories.
• Thomas Bjørn was the leading Danish player in the 2014 Made in Denmark, finishing tied fourth. Other Danish players in the top ten were, Lasse Jensen and Thorbjørn Olesen, both tying for seventh.
