Fantasy Three to Watch in Beijing

Players have made the 1,300 mile trip from Shenzhen to Beijing ready for the Volvo China Open this week. Topwin Golf and Country Club will host the event for the second consecutive year with China's own Haotong Li looking to defend his maiden Tour title.

The 18th hole at the Volvo China Open

The 7,300 yard course is generous off the tee and into the green and sets up for a lot of birdies. Li won last year with a score of 22 under par and with the forecast looking good again this year, you can expect the winner will need to make a lot of birdies. With that in mind, our stats expert has selected these three players for you to consider adding to your Fantasy teams..

Pick of the favourites: Ross Fisher

Ross Fisher

Englishman Ross Fisher is in the best form of his career entering the week, thanks to yet another strong performance last week at the Shenzhen International. Fisher finished one shot out of the playoff at Genzon Golf Club thanks to the lowest final 54 hole score in the field. The 36 year old is known for being long off the tee and accurate into the greens but it was his putting that impressed last week. He finished in the top ten in both Putts per Round and Putts per Green in Regulation. His third place finish was his third top five finish in four starts, including two WGC events. Since his last European Tour victory at the 2014 Tshwane Open, Fisher has 16 top tens, including three runner up finishes. The five-time Tour winner is enjoying a career-best year in terms of Driving Distance and Greens in Regulation and on a course that demands a lot of birdies, he should feel right at home. Three of Fisher’s four stroke play victories came when the Englishman shot 18 under par or better.

Form horse: David Lipsky

lipsky

Thanks in large part to a top five finish in Shenzhen last week, American David Lipsky arrives in Beijing this week ranked inside the top 100 in the world for the first time. The 28 year old has performed extremely well in this part of the world in recent times. He won the 2014 Asian Tour Order of Merit and has finished in the top 25 in each of his last five starts in Asia, including three straight top fives. Lipsky finished in the top ten at this event 12 months ago at 16 under par and is one of only four players in the field this week with a scoring average less than 70.

Wildcard: Peter Hanson

Peter Hanson

Former Ryder Cup player Peter Hanson appears to have moved on from his injury problems and looks in sharp form. The Swede has five top 30 finishes in his last six starts and finished tied sixth at this event last year. The 39 yard old is hitting his average drive five yards further this year and is hitting a career-high 78 percent of greens. His last win came in China back at 2012 BMW Masters, when he held off Rory McIlroy with a score of 21 under par. Another week like that and Hanson could be back in the winner's circle again.
