FedEx Open de France: Fantasy DP World Tour Powered by Axi ones to watch

The Back 9 reaches its midway point this week at the FedEx Open de France.

Here is everything that players of Fantasy DP World Tour need to know.

First staged in 1906 and part of golf’s Global Tour in 1972, continental Europe's oldest national open returns to Le Golf National this year following course renovations since 2024.

American Michael Kim is the defending champion having claimed his maiden DP World Tour title at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche last year, but he faces a tough ask if he wants to become the third player - after Graeme McDowell and Jean-François Remésy - since the turn of the century to go back-to-back.

There is a strong contingent of Ryder Cup Team Europe players in 2017 event winner Tommy Fleetwood, Rolex Series champions Matt Fitzpatrick and Viktor Hovland, along with Ludvig Åberg.

American PGA TOUR winners Ryan Gerard and Bud Cauley will also be making their debuts in France, as is 2022 Open Championship winner Cam Smith from Australia.

There are 26 French players in the field on home soil, including 2025 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year winner Martin Couvra, global winner Matthieu Pavon and emerging talent Oihan Guillamoundeguy.

Who are the most backed players?

Set for his debut at France's national open, Ludvig Åberg is the most popular pick as he features in 68% of teams in the early stages of selections.

His Ryder Cup-winning teammate Viktor Hovland is another first-time player but the Norwegian fan favourite is second at 61%.

Ryan Gerard, who will hope to make it back-to-back American winners at this historic event, is next at 47%, with Kristoffer Reitan and Matt Fitzpatrick rounding out the top five at 43% and 37% respectively.

The Axi Edge Score made a spectacular debut earlier this month as it tipped Jeff Winther, with the Dane going on to win his second DP World Tour title at the Danish Golf Championship on home soil.

Who has the Edge?

Joe Dean

The Englishman has enjoyed a summer to remember, marrying his long-term partner, Emily, days after coming through the Last-Chance Qualifier for The Open at Royal Birkdale. A month later, he then became a DP World Tour winner at the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo as he charged through the field with a brilliant bogey-free 63. With two further top tens, he is in the mix to earn dual membership with the PGA Tour next year in what would be a remarkable rise to prominence having been on the EuroPro Tour as recently as 2022. On his debut at the FedEx Open de France in 2024, he finished tied 18th.

Favourite: Tommy Fleetwood

After an eight-year absence from France's national open, the 35-year-old is one of four members of the 2025 Ryder Cup-winning team in the field. A winner in 2017 when the event was part of the Rolex Series, he arrives in Paris targeting a third DP World Tour victory in as many seasons. Despite a missed cut on his return to Race to Dubai action at last week's BMW PGA Championship, he is safely ensconced in the top ten of the Official World Golf Ranking. With fond memories from his last visit to Le Golf National when he claimed the silver medal at the Olympic Games in the summer of 2024, he could prove a tough man to beat.

Form Horse: Jeff Winther

The Dane became a two-time DP World Tour winner with victory on home soil last month during the Closing Swing. While he missed the cut at the Betfred British Masters, he has since finished tied 23rd and tied 15th going up against stellar international fields at the Amgen Irish Open and BMW PGA Championship, the latter on the Rolex Series stage. Even prior to his win, he finished tied sixth in Italy and in the top 20 in Germany so has enjoyed a period of consistency either side of the summer break in the schedule. Add the fact he has two runner-up finishes and a tie for eighth in three of his five starts at Le Golf National and he should fancy his chances of enjoying another good week on the Race to Dubai.

Looking Back - BMW PGA Championship

Despite it being his tournament debut, JJ Spaun's Major Championship-winning experience meant the American was a popular pick in what was a fairly even spread among a star-studded field at Wentworth Club.

Spaun rewarded 7.09% of players with 231 points, while our Favourite finished tied second to earn x% with , while the man with the Edge Tom McKibbin and Form Horse Jacob Skov Olesen both missed the cut.
