First Minister Welcome

Scotland is proud to host the ISPS HANDA Senior Open once again, as one of the most prestigious events in senior professional golf.

We are delighted to welcome players, officials and spectators from across the world to the King’s Course at Gleneagles, where the 39th edition of this celebrated championship will take place.

It is a particular pleasure to welcome the championship back to Gleneagles, following its successful hosting in 2022. This iconic venue holds a distinguished legacy for golf events in Scotland, having staged world-class tournaments including the 2014 Ryder Cup, the 2019 Solheim Cup, and numerous DP World Tour events since 1974.

Since its inception in 1993, the Senior Open has showcased the very best of elite golf for players aged 50 and above. When staged in Scotland, the championship benefits from an unmatched sense of tradition and authenticity synonymous with the home of golf.

This year Scotland is set for another exceptional summer of sporting events and for golf. Alongside the ISPS HANDA Senior Open we will host the Genesis Scottish Open and ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open. We will also welcome once again the Commonwealth Games, taking place in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August. It is a privilege to host these events, reinforcing Scotland’s position as a world leading destination for tourism and major events.

I am grateful to The R&A, The European Tour group, ISPS HANDA and all partners for their ongoing support of the Senior Open. I look forward to a championship that celebrates outstanding competition and the enduring traditions of the game. To all the players, I wish you the best of luck.
