The Genesis Championship, Korea’s largest international golf tournament co-sanctioned by the KPGA TOUR and the DP World Tour, will celebrate its tenth edition this year with a total prize fund of US$4 million. The tournament will take place from October 22 to 25 at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.
The host venue, Woo Jeong Hills CC, opened in 1993 on a course personally designed by Perry O. Dye, son of the world-renowned golf course architect Pete Dye.
The club has hosted the Kolon Korea Open Golf Championship — co-hosted and organised by the Korea Golf Association (KGA) — a total of 22 times between 2003 and 2026, crowning world-class champions such as Y.E. Yang, Vijay Singh, John Daly, and Rickie Fowler.

Meanwhile, Junghwan Lee — who captured his first career DP World Tour title at last year's tournament, holding off Nacho Elvira and Laurie Canter by three strokes amid passionate support from the Korean fans — will look to become the first player in tournament history to win the event more than once and successfully defend the title.
"Winning my first DP World Tour title at the tournament held in Korea last year was a truly special moment," he said immediately after the event. "Playing on the DP World Tour had always been my dream, and having my family there in person to watch me win made it even more meaningful."
He added, “I will do everything I can to ensure my game is at its best by the time the Genesis Championship arrives, and I am determined to defend my title in front of the home fans.”
First played in 2017, the Genesis Championship has grown into a truly global golf tournament since becoming a co-sanctioned KPGA TOUR and DP World Tour event in 2024. As the final tournament of the Back 9 on the DP World Tour’s global schedule, and the last event of the regular season before the Play-Offs, it delivers a fiercely contested title race each year.
Held as an extension of the strategic partnership between the KPGA TOUR and the DP World Tour, the tournament is also attracting attention as a crucial gateway for Korean players to step onto the global stage. This year, a field of 126 players — 36 from the KPGA TOUR and 90 from the DP World Tour — will compete for the trophy.
The tournament also marks the final opportunity for DP World Tour players to secure their status for the following season, with those finishing inside the top 100 of the Race to Dubai standings earning playing rights on the DP World Tour.
