The first round of the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo was suspended on Thursday as inclement weather swarmed around The Belfry.
Play got under way as scheduled at 07.30 but just two minutes later the hooter sounded with the threat of storms in the area.
And that warning proved accurate as thunder and lightning cracked around the Brabazon, causing a three-hour delay to play.
There was then 94 minutes of play but the rain continued to fall and at 12.04 the hooter sounded again, this time due to a flooded course.
"We were lucky to start, I think," said Tournament Director Ben Groutage.
"This persistent rain here has just taken a lot of the bunkers out of play and the couurse just became unfair.
"The grass through the middle of the course: the tees, the fairways and the greens are performing very well, it's just the bunkers with the sheer amount of water we've had in a small amount of time.
"We should be able to get some more golf in, let's just hope we can get thee or four hours."
