Francesco Molinari's team were unable to build on their one-point overnight lead on Saturday morning as the day's first foursomes session saw both sides score 2.5 points. But it was a different story in the afternoon as Continental Europe - playing in the same pairs as the morning session - won three of the five matches to open up an 8.5-6.5 lead.

Thomas Detry picked the perfect time to hole an enormous putt, slotting in this beauty at the 17th in the afternoon to put his team one hole ahead with one to play. He and Sepp Straka then closed out the victory at the 18th.

Captivating comebacks

Continental Europe pair Thomas Pieters and Alex Noren struck a huge blow in the top match on Saturday morning as they twice came from behind to secure half a point. Having trailed by four on the front nine as opponents Ewen Ferguson and Richard Mansell flew out the blocks, Pieters and Noren tied the match at the 13th after winning four holes without reply. And although they lost the 17th to trail by one with just the last hole to play, Belgian Pieters and Swede Noren won the 18th to tie the match. Also in the morning session, Molinari and Nicolai Højgaard overturned a three-hole deficit in emphatic fashion to beat Matt Wallace and Callum Shinkwin 3&1.
