Concluding two weeks in South Africa and co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour, the Joburg Open is celebrating its 18th edition this week.

Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World leader Patrick Reed has already wrapped up the International Swing but makes just his second ever start in South Africa searching for more success following a top 30 finish at last week’s Investec South Africa Open Championship.

Casey Jarvis joined Reed and Jayden Schaper as the third two-time winner on the 2026 season in front of home crowds last week and is back in action again as he chases a historic third victory in a row.

Jarvis and Schaper help lead a strong South African contingent, while defending champion Calum Hill makes his return to Houghton following a strong start to the season that included back-to-back runner-up finishes in the Middle East and a top 20 last week.

From insight into the week’s most-picked players among Fantasy managers, to our ones to watch, we run the rule ahead of Thursday’s deadline to pick your team.

Who are the most picked players?

After his inspiring form over the past two weeks, Jarvis is the most picked player at the moment, featuring in 58% of teams, just under 20% clear of nearest rival Angel Ayora on 39%.

Reed is currently the third most picked player on 35% alongside Hennie du Plessis.

Who are our ones to watch?

Favourite - Patrick Reed

Reed has already wrapped up the International Swing thanks to a phenomenal start to the year and at 18th on the Official World Golf Ranking, it’s no surprise he’s the favourite this week. After his win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, he finished second in Bahrain after a play-off and then won again in Qatar before taking a two-week break. He now makes his second career start on South African soil, having finished in a tie for 29th on his debut in the country last week thanks to a final round 68. He ranks inside the top three on Tour for Strokes Gained: Approach and Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, and will be hoping to continue an excellent run of form.

Form Horse – Casey Jarvis

A very straightforward choice this week is Jarvis, who heads to Joburg following back-to-back victories on Tour. He broke through for a maiden Tour title at the Magical Kenya Open presented by absa, and followed it up with an impressive triumph at the Investec South African Open Championship last week. Now seeking history, Jarvis has the chance to follow in the footsteps of Sir Nick Faldo and Seve Ballesteros and become just the third player in DP World Tour history to win three consecutive events. With four top tens this season already and currently ranked inside the top five on Tour for both par three and par four scoring, it’s certainly not out of reach.

Wild Card – Daniel van Tonder

Fresh from a tied sixth last week, Van Tonder has the makings of a great Wild Card pick this week with a combination of current form and one of the most consistent histories at the course over the last three years. While he struggled in 2024, he finished tied third in 2023 and fifth last season. Not a stranger to the winner's circle on home soil either, Van Tonder – whose sole victory on the DP World Tour came in Kenya in 2021 - stole the headlines in the opening two events of the season on last year’s HotelPlanner Tour with back-to-back wins, coming at the SDC Open and MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood Estate that helped him earn promotion back to the DP World Tour.
