Koepka on the charge

Brooks Koepka made the biggest early move as the second round of the Omega European Masters at the picturesque Crans-sur-Sierre.

The American began the tournament in good style yesterday, striking three under par to be five shots adrift of overnight leader Anirban Lahiri.

Keen to set an early clubhouse target as an early starter, Koepka – having begun on the tenth – struck four birdies in an outward 31.

He was subsequently level with England’s Paul Casey, who was one under through seven having seen gains at 14 and 15 undermined by a bogey at 16.

Further down the leaderboard, Danny Willett, Scott Hend and Maximilian Kieffer were also off to flying starts.

Willett and Hend were four under overall, with the latter a shot better off having eagled the first.

Lahiri, meanwhile, was set to tee off at 1:50pm having overcome a twisted knee to prosper yesterday.
