Leading trio earn Major Championship shot as Asian Swing concludes

Mikael Lindberg's win at the 2026 Turkish Airlines Open sees him join Bernd Wiesberger and Jordan Gumberg in this year's US PGA Championship.

The PGA of America grants qualifying places to the top three finishers in the DP World Tour's Asian Swing, with Lindberg toppping the rankings ahead of Wiesberger, the winner of last week's Volvo China Open for his first DP World Tour title in almost five years, and Gumberg who triumphed at March's Hainan Classic presented by MAEXTRO.

Alex Fitzpatrick was edged into fourth place on the swing standings but the Englishman will tee it up at Aronimink Golf Club in any case after partnering his brother Matt to win last week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans on the PGA Tour.

Wiesberger said: “It’s a bit off the radar, since what happened last week it’s obviously gone a bit to the back of my head.

“It’s nice to be back playing a Major Championship, obviously, looking forward to head over there and hopefully have a good week. I think my last one was at the Open in 2022 at St Andrews so it’s been a while.

“It’s nice to get through a mini Order of Merit, obviously get a bit of exposure for our guys too, to play Major Championships again, and I’m very glad to be able to grab one of those spots.”

Lindberg will make his Major Championship debut aged 33 and his immediate reaction when his qualification was mentioned in his greenside interview was simply: “Wow."

He added: “To be honest, I barely knew it was even possible because I saw the guys that were leading the Asian swing were quite far ahead.

“I don't know what to say really. It's going to be amazing.”

American Gumberg added: “Any time I get chance to go back home and play on home turf is so much fun and it being a Major, it’s obviously what we try to get into and try to play in.

“It was a whirlwind of a week with some sliding scale factors that could change that and I didn’t have my best stuff this week by any means, so it was kind of out of my hands so I’m happy that it ended up going my way.

“It’s a golf course that a lot of my friends are familiar with and I’ve kind of got some insight into that, so I’m looking forward to it. Friends and family will be there, a lot of my family’s from Pennsylvania as well so it’s not that far to drive for them to come out and see.”
