Shane Lowry has been voted Hilton Golfer of the Month for July after winning his maiden Major title at the 148th Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
Ten years on from his memorable win as an amateur at the 2009 Irish Open, Lowry carded rounds of 67-67-63-72 for a 15 under par total and a six-shot victory. A spellbinding third round of 63 gave the Irishman a commanding lead heading into Sunday, where the field battled extremely tough weather conditions. With the home crowds behind him, Lowry cruised down the back nine to seal an incredible victory in Portrush.
June’s Golfer of the Month Wiesberger came runner-up in the public vote after picking up his second title in as many months at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open. The Austrian triumphed in a play-off over Frenchman Benjamin Hebert at the Renaissance Club.
Tommy Fleetwood came in third place after strong performances at both The Open Championship and WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational. He tied his best performance in a Major Championship after finishing solo second at Royal Portrush and tied for fourth in Memphis.
Meanwhile, Jon Rahm rounded off the voting after picking up his second Dubai Duty Free Irish Open trophy to go with the title he won in 2017. He followed up his victory at Lahinch with an 11th place finish at The Open Championship.
