The four-time Major winner and reigning Open champion will once again bring star power to a world-class field in East Lothian, joining fellow double-Masters winner and World Number Two Rory McIlroy, leading Scot and 2024 winner Robert MacIntyre, and defending champion Chris Gotterup.

Scheffler has continued his imperious form this season, securing his 20th PGA TOUR title at The American Express in January and adding five further top five finishes, including runner up at Augusta National.

The 2024 Olympic gold medallist and three-time Ryder Cup player returns to the Renaissance Club for his fifth appearance, as the 29-year-old aims to add Scotland’s national open to his glittering resume ahead of his defence of the Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale the following week.

Scheffler said: “I always enjoy coming to the Genesis Scottish Open and taking on the challenge of links-style golf as part of an exciting couple of weeks in the UK. The tournament always has a strong field, and the Scottish fans help to make it a fun week.”

The Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, counting on both the Race to Dubai Rankings delivered by DP World and the FedExCup, and boasts Genesis, the luxury automotive brand from South Korea, as title partner.

Genesis is title partner of two tournaments on the 2026 Race to Dubai, with the Genesis Championship in Korea rounding out the Back 9 in October, as well as two tournaments on the PGA TOUR’s 2026 schedule, with the Genesis Scottish Open following the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club, which ended with an impressive breakout win for American Jacob Bridgeman.

The event also benefits from the continued commitment of the Scottish Government and VisitScotland through to 2028, with the Renaissance Club remaining as host venue until 2030.

The fan experience at the Genesis Scottish Open includes the Fringe by the Tee pop-up stage, in conjunction with the Fringe by the Sea festival, with The Feeling and Toploader already confirmed as the Friday and Saturday headline acts, and more to be announced soon.
