Shane Williams, Mike Phillips, Lee Byrne, and James Hook set for Cazoo Open Pro-Am

Former Wales and Lions rugby stars Shane Williams, Mike Phillips, Lee Byrne and James Hook will tee it up at the Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale Pro-Am at Celtic Manor Resort on August 3.

Joining these stars at the 2010 Ryder Cup host venue are Wales winger Aled Brew, and former Wales fullback Tom Prydie, who became his nation’s youngest ever debutant in the 2010 Six Nations aged just 18 years, starting on the wing against Italy. Months later, Prydie became Wales’ youngest ever try scorer when he touched down against South Africa. Prydie played for a host of clubs including Swansea, Wasps, Newport Gwent Dragons, Scarlets, and most recently made three appearances for Bath last season.

With a combined 324 caps and 767 points scored for Wales, and ten combined appearances for The British and Irish Lions, these stars of Welsh Rugby will tee it up on the famous Twenty Ten Course in a fun-filled curtain raiser to the main tournament.

The 2022 Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale will then take place from August 4-7. Bale starred in Wales’ qualification for the 2022 Football World Cup in Qatar, and has stressed his excitement at this year’s event, saying: “Last year’s tournament was a really exciting boost for Welsh golf and this year will be even better.”

Reigning champion Nacho Elvira is confirmed to lead a strong field to tackle The Twenty Ten. Elvira secured his maiden DP World Tour victory last year with a thrilling playoff victory. Danish star Thorbjørn Olesen, who won the Betfred British Masters in May, will tee it up alongside Elvira.

Tickets including season-tickets are available for Wednesday’s Pro-Am and all four tournament days from just £15 and U12s go free when accompanied by a paying adult. The Cazoo Open is proudly a family friendly event and a great day out for everyone.
