Final Qualifying for The 154th Open will take place on Tuesday, June 30. Here is everything you need to know as players vie for a spot at Royal Birkdale.
Where is Final Qualifying taking place?
For the third year in a row, Final Qualifying for this summer's Open Championship is being held across Burnham & Berrow, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire in England and Dundonald Links in Scotland.
How does Final Qualifying work?
A gateway to The Open, Final Qualifying is held over 36 holes.
288 players - 72 at each site - attempt to play their way into the 156-man field for the final Major Championship of 2026.
20 spots, 5 from each site, are set to be offered by The R&A. Any ties for the last qualifying place in each event will be settled by a sudden-death play-off.
When did Regional Qualifying take place?
Regional Qualifying took place over 18 holes at 16 venues across Great Britain and Ireland on June 22.
124 players, featuring a mix of established professionals and amateurs, progressed to Final Qualifying as 2,073 players teed it up.
This year, 12 venues received eight places and four received seven.

How else can players qualify for The Open?
The Open Qualifying Series (OQS) offers golfers around the world the chance to book their place at The 154th Open.
This week's DS Automobiles 83° Open d’Italia is the penultimate event of the OQS, with one place available to the highest placed finisher, not already exempt.
The OQS has already featured 13 events where players could earn their spots at The Open and the final opportunity will be at next month's Genesis Scottish Open, where spots are up for grabs.
New for 2026, the Last-Chance Qualifier will see 12 players given the opportunity to compete for the final place in the field on Monday 13 July.

The four official championship days at Royal Birkdale take place from Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19.
