1 country, 1 golfer, 1 caddie, 1 dog, 80 days, 2,011km & 20,093 shots - 1 epic golf adventure
Screening throughout the week at Carnoustie, the
Longest Hole film
tells the story of Adam Rolston and Ron Rutland setting a world record of the longest hole ever played as the trekked 2011km across Mongolia.
Fans attending The Open have the chance to see the film and meet the stars of this epic golfing adventure.
In what numerous golf (and adventure) pundits, describe as 'undoubtedly the greatest golf adventure of all time', the journey too became all about an unexpected 3rd guest - a dog named UB who joined the expedition on day 3, and walked every one of the 2,000 remaining kilometers with the boys, in what surely must rank as one of the greatest feats of canine endurance of all time!
The Longest Hole is a moving and inspiring tale of friendship and loyalty, the human spirit, and the power of the made up mind, and will leave audiences in awe of the landscapes and people of Mongolia, the sheer ludicrously of taking one of the most traditional and formal of games, to one of the most inhospitable and wild places on the planet, but most of all, of the most amazing dog to walk the planet.
The film was captured and Produced by Andrew King, Caddie Ron Rutland and Golfer Adam Rolston. Cape Town based Andrew King directed the Film, with some assistance coming from Adam Rolston. Jason Tse from Hong Kong, made the original. Ed Rolston came on board after the expedition and was instrumental in acquiring funding for the production. The Longest Hole is truly a global story, and the whole team is delighted with how the film has turned out and how well it has been received.
The charity beneficiaries of the expedition were the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB).
