How the Back 9 works?

The Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo marks the first event of the Back 9 - the second phase on the DP World Tour's 2025/26 Race to Dubai schedule.

It encompasses nine of the DP World Tour’s most historic tournaments and national Opens and will run from August 2026 to October 2026.

Increased Race to Dubai Rankings points are on offer throughout this phase, with 5,000 available in each regular event – up from 3,000 during the Global Swings phase. 8,000 Rankings points will be on offer at the BMW PGA Championship as the third Rolex Series event of the year.

At the end of the phase, the top 70 qualifying players on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World will battle it out in Abu Dhabi to secure enough points to be among the top 50 available players who progress to the season finale, the DP World Tour Championship, where the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai champion will be crowned.

History of the event

Established in 1946, it was held every year up to 2008, except for 1984. After a seven-year hiatus, the event returned to the DP World Tour's International Schedule in 2015.

Previous winners of the British Masters include Major Champions Seve Ballesteros, Sandy Lyle, Sir Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick.

Faldo – who received a Knighthood in 2009 for his services to golf – has served as the tournament's host since 2023. The tournament had been hosted by some of British golf’s leading players since 2015, including 2023 Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald at The Grove in 2016, Justin Rose in 2018 at Walton Heath, Tommy Fleetwood in 2019 at Hillside and Danny Willett at The Belfry in 2021 and 2022.

Since the DP World Tour announced a revamp to its schedule ahead of the 2024 season, the British Masters has served as the opening event on the Back 9 - the second phase of the Race to Dubai.

In January 2026, Husqvarna, a global leader in robotic lawnmowing and part of Husqvarna Group, signed a multi-year agreement to become the new Title Partner of the British Masters.

Who is in the field?

The British Masters has a long-established history of welcoming strong international fields.

Keep across the DP World Tour website for updates on player announcements, with the full field set to be announced two weeks before the event starts.

The venue

The British Masters has a rich history at The Belfry, with the 2026 edition set to be the 23rd DP World Tour tournament at the iconic venue.

The Belfry first staged a DP World Tour event in 1979, when the late, great Ballesteros won the Lada English Golf Classic. The Brabazon Course has also hosted four Ryder Cups.

What happened last year?

Last year's British Masters was the final counting event for European Ryder Cup Qualification, providing extra significance as the race to make captain Luke Donald's team for Bethpage reached its conclusion.

Rasmus Højgaard became the final player to qualify automatically for the team after finishing in a tie for 13th.

Alex Noren ended a seven-year worldwide wait for victory as he claimed his 11th DP World Tour title to become a two-time winner at the British Masters.
