Thriston Lawrence wins new car as fans are treated to two aces on Friday

Thriston Lawrence won a brand new DS 4 car after landing his first hole-in-one on the DP World Tour, while Shubhankar Sharma also made an ace during a memorable second round at the 2023 DS Automobiles Italian Open.

India's Sharma got the first of the day as he holed his tee-shot at the par-three 17th in the morning, achieving the feat from 217 yards with a five iron.

Then Lawrence managed an ace from 227 yards with a six iron at the short seventh, with the ball landing just shy of the ridge on the green and feeding slowly down to the hole before dropping in.

That earned the South African the keys to a DS 4 PURETECH Automatic BASTILLE Business.

Lawrence said: "It was probably the highlight of my day and week.

"It was a perfect six iron for me. My caddie told me to hit it 14, 15 yards short of the hole and just let it trickle up there.

"And I pitched it exactly where I wanted to and just stopped looking because you can obviously not see as much as you'd like.

"I heard a clap about 15 seconds later as it went in.

"So yeah, obviously very pleased at that and it's nice to get a car.

"It's hopefully the first of many!"

Sharma, meanwhile, celebrated his hole-in-one by taking some beers into the caddie lounge after signing for a second-round 67 to make it through to the weekend.
