It promises to be an exciting week on and off the course at the Nexo Championship. Here's a summary of what not to miss on your visit to Trump International Golf Links.
Global Field
Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed and defending champion Grant Forrest headline a global field set to tee it up at Trump International Golf Links. World Number 32 Reed will be joined by five others who have tasted success on the Race to Dubai so far, including Eugenio Chacarra, Casey Jarvis, Yurav Premlall, Richard Sterne and Michael Hollick, while crowd favourite Forrest will be one of 15 Scots representing on home soil. Three-time DP World Tour winner Ewen Ferguson, Aberdeen local David Law and Global Amateur Pathway Ranking winner Cameron Adam are among those bolstering the home charge, alongside compatriots Connor Syme and Scott Jamieson.
American John Daly II, the son of Major champion John Daly, will make his professional debut on golf’s Global Tour at next week’s event, as will NEXT Golf Tour Order of Merit winner Simon Zach.
Celebrity Pro-Am
A host of sporting stars across tennis, football, rugby and curling will also take to the links when the inaugural Nexo Championship Celebrity Pro-Am is staged on Wednesday 19 August. Among those confirmed for the unmissable event is three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray, renowned coach Judy Murray and seven-time Major doubles champion Jamie Murray.
Championship Village
There will be something for the entire family to enjoy in the Championship Village. The Nexo Show Stage will welcome local acoustic artists across the week, with Aberdeen band Starsky continuing the entertainment after play on Saturday 22 August.
Children can enjoy free activities at the Nexo Kids Zone and Aberdeen FC Community Trust tent, while big screens and an array of food and beverage options will make for a family-friendly atmosphere.
Prize Presentation
Robert Gordon’s College Pipe Band will perform as part of the prize presentation on Sunday 23 August, capping off a special week in Aberdeenshire.
