BMW PGA Championship: Fantasy DP World Tour Powered by Axi ones to watch

Rolex Series action returns this week as the Back 9 continues apace with the BMW PGA Championship.

Wentworth Club, headquarters of the DP World Tour, plays host to a star-studded international field as Alex Noren defends his title over the West Course.

With a total purse of $9million, Major champions, Ryder Cup players, Rolex Series winners and world-renowned names from the PGA Tour tee it up targeting victory in one of the premiere events on the Race to Dubai schedule.

Coming quickly on the heels of the Amgen Irish Open and a scouting trip to Adare Manor, 11 members of Europe's 2025 Ryder Cup winning team are in action.

Among those are past event winners Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Tyrrell Hatton, along with Wentworth resident Justin Rose.

Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World leader Patrick Reed is joined in the field by fellow multiple 2026 winners Jayden Schaper, Casey Jarvis and Eugenio Chacarra, while Kristoffer Reitan makes his first regular DP World Tour appearance since becoming a PGA Tour winner earlier in the year.

Ryan Fox, who won this tournament in 2023, and fellow Antipodean Adam Scott have long been regular visitors and they support the tournament once again, which falls one week before they represent the International Team at the Presidents Cup next week.

Who are the most backed players

Tommy Fleetwood is the most popular pick in the early stages, featuring in 53% of teams, five percentage points clear of Matt Fitzpatrick.

With 11 players from Team Europe's Ryder Cup-winning team in the field, it is perhaps no surprise that the top five are members of Luke Donald's side at Bethpage.

Viktor Hovland is third on 45%, with Ludvig Åberg and Rose rounding out the top five on 43% and 34% respectively.

The Axi Edge Score made a spectacular debut earlier this month as it tipped Jeff Winther, with the Dane going on to win his second DP World Tour title at the Danish Golf Championship on home soil.

Who has the Edge?

Tom McKibbin

The Northern Irishman arrives at Wentworth after back-to-back top tens, finishing tied sixth at the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo and tied fifth at the Amgen Irish Open. He also knows what it takes to go low on the West Course after finishing tied tenth and tied 11th on his last two visits, closing with a 66 on each occasion.

Favourite: Rory McIlroy

As predictable it may be, the World Number Two is the man to beat. This year marks his 15th start at an event he won in 2014 and has finished runner-up at on three ocassions in what is an enviable record. Last year, his tie for 20th was his worst finish since 2018, highlighting why he is a dependable pick this week like most. While he has won this season, becoming a two-time Masters champion, he'll be eager to claim more silverware. He reaffirmed his determination to draw level with Colin Montgomerie's record haul of eight Race to Dubai titles before last week's Amgen Irish Open and another strong showing will go a long way to helping his cause ahead of what promises to be an exciting run-in to the campaign.

Form Horse: Jacob Skov Olesen

The Dane is surely a winner in waiting. Across his last five starts on the DP World Tour, he has finished in the top ten on four occassions and finished tied 16th in his other appearance. That run of form has seen him climb to ninth on the Race to Dubai Rankings as he targets dual membership with the PGA Tour for next season. Such has been the impression he has made since earning his DP World Tour card through Qualifying School as an amateur in 2024, it may come as a surprise to know this will be his BMW PGA Championship debut. But after reaching the DP World Tour Championship in his first full season last year, he is unlikely to be overrawed among this world-class company.
