Schauffele sparkles, fabulous Fitzpatrick and top of the flops from Detry on day three of the 2021 abrdn Scottish Open.

Everything you need to know from Moving Day at The Renaissance Club.

Stunning Schauffele shines with his irons

Xander Schauffele is one of the superstars in North Berwick and he showed why he is ranked fifth in the Official World Golf Rankings with this superb par save at the third.

And he finished the front nine in style as he holed out from the bunker for a brilliant birdie.

Björk bursts into contention

Alexander Björk only just made the cut line on Friday following rounds of 72 and 68 but he propelled himself up the leaderboard with a brilliant 63 on Moving Day. That equalled the lowest score of the week as he rolled in eight birdies in a flawless display. A hat-trick of gains from the fifth kicked off his third round for finishing the front nine by picking up another shot. He carried that momentum at the 10th before adding birdies at the 13th, 16th and 17th to climb up to ten under par - four off the lead. Speaking about his round, the Swede said: "This season is absolutely one of the best, probably the best score I've had this season. I think I might have had one other minus eight, but definitely the best of the season. Career wise, good round, absolutely."

Burmester goes record low in round three

Big hitting Dean Burmester ensured he avoided the third round cut with a brilliant back nine in North Berwick. The South African started the day on the cut line but was back to even par after bogeys at the second and third and was in danger of missing Sunday. But a remarkable stretch saw Burmester card par-par-birdie-eagle-birdie-eagle-birdie-par-par for the lowest back nine at the Scottish Open this century after coming home in 28. Superb stuff, Dean.

Fabulous Fitzpatrick

Matt Fitzpatrick shares the clubhouse lead at 14 under par at The Renaissance Club and it will be down to moments like this stunning bunker shot which has helped him get there.

And to get over the line you also need luck if you are going to be in the winner's circle, was this that moment?

Top of the flops

Thomas Detry is the other joint leader after a composed 68 to sit at 14 under par with Fitzpatrick. The Belgian has yet to enter the winner's circle on the European Tour after four runner-up finishes so could this finally be the week? Well shots like this certainly help, especially with World Number One Jon Rahm only one shot off the pace.
