2026 Genesis Championship - Day two digest

Jarvis and Rozner lead, the battle for a Tour card comes to an emotional end for some, while others keep their hopes alive at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.

Here's what you need to know from the second round of the Genesis Championship in South Korea.

Casey Jarvis and Antoine Rozner lead the way

Antoine Rozner made two birdies in his final three holes to catch first-round leader Casey Jarvis as the pair head into the weekend of the Genesis Championship in a share of the lead.

The South African mixed four birdies with 14 pars to set the clubhouse target with a bogey-free 67, strengthening his bid for a third victory of the season that would lift him to second on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World.

But Rozner produced one of the rounds of the day late in the afternoon to draw level at the halfway stage, carding a flawless six-under 65.Starting on the tenth, the Frenchman rolled in a 44-foot birdie putt at the 13th before adding further gains at the 16th and 18th to reach the turn in 33. He then picked up three more shots with short-range birdie conversions at the fifth, seventh and eighth holes to complete his bogey-free effort.

The fight for DP World Tour playing rights continues

On a dramatic second day in Korea, there were several players who guaranteed they will have a fighting chance to retain the full playing rights on the DP World Tour for next season.

Yuto Katsuragawa, who is ranked 106th, made a birdie at the last to add a second-round 69 to his opening 67 and move into a share of tenth place heading into the weekend. It moves him into a projected position of 96th, up ten places.

Matteo Manassero (98th) and Sean Crocker (103rd) both made the cut on the number, and will both be targetting a big weekend as they are currently projected to end the season at 99th and 101st respectively.

Elsewhere, Brandon Robinson Thompson (109th) made his own move, with a second round 69 to add to his opening 71. Tied for 26th, he was at one stage on Friday predicted to be 100th, but is currently at 105th.

Heartbreak for multiple DP World Tour winners

With the jubilation of retaining cards for some also comes the unavoidable heartache for others who will need to go back to Qualifying School to retain their full status after a missed cut in the final event of the regular season.

Sebastian Söderberg, the man who came in at 101st on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World, was unable to come back from a disappointing opening 76 (+5) to miss the cut nable to improve his position. He is currently projected to finish at 103rd in the standings.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat came into this week with hope of doing enough to keep his card, but after a disappointing opening round, the four-time winnerr was forced to withdraw halfway through his second round with injury to his back and is now projected to be at 110th.

Nine-time DP World Tour winner Pablo Larrazábal also fell short in his bid to retain playing privileges for 2027, bringing to a close a remarkable spell among the Tour's ranks that began when he earned his card in 2007, ending this year projected to finish 166th.

Other players who missed the cut and finished outside the top 100 include Dylan Naidoo and Elvis Smylie, while multiple winner Marcel Siem withdrew after the opening round.

Others, such as David Law and Eddie Pepperell, remain inside the top 100 but face a nervy wait over the weekend.
