Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship: DP World Tour Fantasy Ones to Watch

The European Swing gets under way this week with the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship and here is all that players of the DP World Tour's official fantasy game need to know.

After straddling continents last week in Türkiye, the DP World Tour is back in Spain, where its first event was held in 1972.

This week we return to Real Club de Golf El Prat and the Catalunya region, with both rich in DP World Tour history. Between 1978 and 2015, El Prat staged 11 events across two tournaments and now, over a decade after James Morrison lifted the trophy at the 2015 Open de España, it is back for a 12th appearance.

Spain has long been one of the world's great golfing nations and this week local heroes will take centre stage, with a string of established and rising stars searching for home glory.

Nacho Elvira has already won in 2026 and will be hungry for more, as will fellow winners in recent seasons Eugenio Chacarra, Alejandro del Rey, Angel Hidalgo and Pablo Larrazábal, while, among others, in-form Angel Ayora is searching for his first win.

Major champion Francesco Molinari will lead a truly global field as the Race to Dubai rolls into its 12th country of the season. Rolex Series champions Paul Waring and Bernd Wiesberger - fresh off a win in China - also tee it up alongside South African Jayden Schaper, who is looking to maintain his push for the Harry Vardon Trophy.

Who are the most backed players?

It is perhaps no surprise that home players are well backed this week and Chacarra is our top pick, featuring in 52% of teams.

That puts him just over 11 percentage points clear of Dane Jacob Skov Olesen, with Ayora (31%), Elvira (29%) and Scot Ewen Ferguson (24%) rounding out the top five.

Who are our ones to watch?

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite - Jayden Schaper

A tight-run thing between the South African and home hero Ayora with the bookmakers but Schaper has to just edge ahead as Favourite this week. The 25-year-old is the highest-ranked player in the field on both the Official World Golf Ranking and Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World. He may arrive off the back of a missed cut but that is his first of the season, with his other results bringing two wins, a second, and a further top five and top ten. His return to action last week came after a long break and he revealed he was feeling refreshed and ready to fight for the Race to Dubai title. Will lofty ambitions bring more high-flying results?

Form Horse - Jacob Skov Olesen

While Ayora is considered by most to be the next cab off the rank in terms of a first-time win, this exciting Dane surely cannot be far behind. After becoming the first Dane to win The Amateur Championship, he secured a HotelPlanner Tour card which he quickly turned into a DP World Tour card at the Qualifying School, making it all the way to the DP World Tour Championship last season. In 2026 he has three top fives in his last six DP World Tour starts, including a fourth last time out at the Turkish Airlines Open. In that spell, he and Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen also finished in a tie for fourth at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, further boosting the confidence of a player who looks destined for big things.

Wild Card - James Morrison

The Englishman created one of the stories of last season as - playing what he thought would be his last professional event and with his son on the bag - he won the HotelPlanner Tour's Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A to regain his DP World Tour status. He has a respectable seven made cuts so far in 2026 across a busy schedule that this week sees him tee it up on a fourth continent - his home continent where he has won before. His victory at the 2015 Open de España came at this week's venue - albeit over a different layout - but the positive memories will remain and Morrison has proven he can pull out a performance when needed.
