    Enjoyed an outstanding amateur career before turning professional in 1973, but would have to wait 20 years for his first European Tour title.

    His first came in his 455th event, but he would win his second just a few months later. Worked for the European Tour as a referee, but joined the Senior Tour after turning 50, enjoying immediate success.

    Mason won four of his first eleven events and topped the Order of Merit in 2003 and 2004.

    Came close to winning the Senior Open Championship at Turnberry in 2003, losing in a play-off to Tom Watson.

    He finished runner-up on the Order of Merit the following two seasons before regaining the John Jacobs Trophy in 2007, the same year he surpassed Tommy Horton as the highest career money earner on the Senior Tour.

    Equalled Tommy Horton's 23 Senior Tour titles in 2010, but set a new record the following year after winning his 24th and 25th events.
