Looked to be heading for the top after finishing 96th on the Order of Merit in 2007. However his progress was halted in 2008 after suffering a wrist injury during the BMW International Open in Munich. He is playing in 2009 on a Medical Extension for his first nine events. Being in the limelight is not a new experience. Enjoyed a glittering amateur career, winning numerous Surrey titles and the prestigious Peter McEvoy Trophy and also earned England honours. Just as he was about to embark on his professional career in 2003 he suffered a neck injury in a car crash – two vertebrae were knocked out of place – and only during the 2007 season was he able to start practising like he used to do. His ‘auntie Pat’ – Baroness Scotland of Asthal - is the current Attorney General for England and Wales in the British Government
