Has five runner-up finishes to his name on the European Tour, including two play-off losses at the 2011 Trophee Hassann II and 2017 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Started playing the game as an 11 year old and turned professional at 21. Has won 14 Sunshine Tour titles, including four in 2010. Was the South African Amateur Champion in 2000.

Like compatriot Charl Schwartzel, he has a passion for flying. Started hang-gliding a number of years ago, subsequently gaining his pilot's licence.
