Secured his maiden European Tour victory when he won the co-sanctioned Blue Chip New Zealand Open at Gulf Harbour at the start of the 2007 season and immediately took up European Tour Membership. Made a big impression in his rookie season on the US PGA Tour in 2006 having progressed from the Nationwide Tour and narrowly missed out on victory in his second tournament when he lost in a three-man play-off for the Buick Invitational against winner Tiger Woods and José Maria Olazábal. Claimed six top tens, second amongst the rookies to Trevor Immelman’s eight. Built on that with a solid second US PGA Tour season where he finished 46th in the FedEx Points Standings at the end of the 2007 season. Took up the game at the age of ten, following in the footsteps of his brother who then became his coach. Cites Greg Norman and Ian Baker-Finch as his golfing idols. An all round sportsman, he represented New South Wales in soccer. Worked in his brother’s pro shop at Westside GC in Newcastle and also mowed the grass in a crematorium his parents manage in Valentine.
