    Won the English Amateur Championship in 2006, beating Oliver Fisher in the final, and turned professional later that year after graduating from the University of Tennessee.

    Continued to make rapid progress by finishing second in the Challenge Tour Rankings the following season. Ended four years in the golfing wilderness when he came through the 2015 Qualifying School.

    Made his European Tour breakthrough with victory in the 2009 Madrid Masters then went from the highs of finishing second in the 2009 DP Tour World Championship and nearly making the 2010 Ryder Cup to the lows of losing his card in 2011 and spending the next four seasons battling injuries and trying to claw his way back.

    He returned to the winner's circle more than 11 years after his maiden victory when he claimed the 2020 Italian Open title at Chervò Golf Club.
