    A former caddie in his native Corrientes in northern Argentina, he decided to try his luck on the European Challenge Tour and won the 1998 Tusker Kenya Open in Nairobi after a play-off.

    Secured his place on the European Tour by finishing fifth on the Challenge Tour Rankings in 1998 and then had 17 unbroken years on the European Tour, winning four times with a career-best finish of 25th in the Race to Dubai in 2001.

    Finished tied tenth at the 2002 US PGA Championship.

    After losing his card at the end of the 2015 season, he became the oldest ever European Tour Qualifying School graduate when he earned a card in 2016 aged 47 years and 24 days.
