One of the first Swedish golfers to arrive on The European Tour back in the early 1980s. He turned professional in 1982, at the relatively advanced age of 29, after a fine amateur career during which he excelled both for the Swedish national team and at college in America where he played for San Diego University. In the months before turning professional, he was a member of the Swedish team that finished second at the 1982 Eisenhower Trophy, with Krister himself taking third place in the individual competition. While still an amateur, he also finished eighth in the 1982 Scandinavian Enterprise Open at his home course at Linkoping, turning professional shortly afterwards. The Swede’s best year in the paid ranks came in 1984, when he finished fourth behind fellow Seniors Tour rookie, Jaime Gonzales, at the St Mellion Timeshare Tournament Players Championship. That year, he also captained Sweden in the Hennessy Cognac Cup.
