Played only three times on the Senior Tour in 2008 with his best finish a share of 11th place in the Jersey Seniors Classic. Achieved his best tournament result for four years when he was tied second behind Guillermo Encina in Jersey in 2006, but the Californian was unable to build on that result in order to win back the fully-exempt card he lost in 2005. The top 30 on the European Senior Tour Order of Merit retain full playing privileges for the following season and so Tapie was relieved to finish in 30th place at the end of 2004. Endured contrasting emotions in 2005 when he ended up in 31st spot after a season that saw him register three top-tens. Joined the Tour in 1999 and later that year won his first, and to date only, Senior Tour title at the Elf Seniors Open in France en route

to fifth place on the Order of Merit – his career best finish. Played the US PGA Tour from 1975 to 1982. Was in contention in The 1975 Open Championship at Carnoustie before a final round of 79 saw him slip to 16th place.
