Claimed his maiden European Tour title in Germany in 2007 and then bridged a gap of ten years without a victory on the tour on a glorious return to the same country, at the BMW International Open in Munich. There he overcame the Masters Champion Sergio Garcia among others in a thrilling finale.

In July 2007, Romero broke into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time and reached 29th after his first European Tour win. The following week a top-ten finish in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational took him into the top 25.

In March 2008, Romero won for the first time on the PGA Tour at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and moved to a career high of 21st in the OWGR.

He was named the 2008 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, having three top-ten finishes including his win in New Orleans.

Was regarded as one of Argentina’s most talented rising stars when, in 2005, he graduated from the Challenge Tour with one victory under his belt.
